About Us

Wally Dashiell, president of Dance Masters of America, Chapter 17, is pictured with students in 1961.

Our Mission

Dashiell School of Dancing, in following with the traditions established by Mrs. Wally Dashiell in 1948, strives to teach the art of dance, while maturing and developing both the physical body and the mental and emotional soul of the dancer.

It is our desire to develop confidence, discipline, and dance ethics in every dancer as she or he studies dance through classes and performances.

We believe that dance not only brings joy through artistic expression, but that it also instills teamwork, discipline, diligence, and patience, as well as character, as students learn to self-assess and to accept both praise and constructive criticism gracefully.

Dashiell School of Dancing is committed to using music, costume, and dance movements which are wholesome and family friendly.

Artistic Director and Owner

Evelyn Paddy has studied dancing at Dashiell School of Dancing for twenty years, six of those years as a student demonstrator and three years as a student teacher. In 2013 she became the artistic director as well as the sole owner of the studio.

Her training also includes thirteen years of study with Paula Lynn at the Triple Threat Theatre Studio, Dance Masters of America workshops since she was nine years old, and workshops with the Maryland Council for Dance. She has attended a DMA Student Honors Intensive Program on scholarship and is a previous junior member of DMA.  The past four years she was awarded scholarships to attend DMA”™s Teacher Training School at the University of Buffalo in New York, where she received her teaching diploma. She has also had wonderful opportunities to perform in professional programs with the Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Jeoffrey Ballet, and ACDA. Recently she performed her solo which she choreographed in Wyoming for the ACDA adjudication concert.

Currently, she is studying dance and dance therapy at AACC where she has been a dance company member for the past 4 years. Two of those years she was Vice President and now she is going on her second year of being president. Evelyn also gives back to the community as a guest choreographer for KIHS dance program, as well as being a teacher at the YDF at AACC during the summer.
